Who is Shane?

Shane first saw mountains when he was nine and announced that he would live among them. He went to Alaska for a three-month job as a cook in a remote lodge. Shane stayed for twenty years, skiing, climbing and living in the mountains.

He was raised on a farm in northern Wisconsin which helped him develop skills he would later use to pick rocks and shovel all manner of things on three continents.

Shane often curses but rarely capitalizes due to a hilarious incident involving his brother, a turkey and a knife. He learned how to fly helicopters, a skill that took him to Botswana for two years. There he developed a love of photography and a hatred of baboons.

Shane used to be the second fastest color man at the now defunct Seattle Fur Exchange. He now raises fruit at Pleasant Pond Orchard in Maine. Shane gets his passport stamped as often as possible.
