Travel is both inconvenient and expensive.
Who is Phil?
Phil started studying Portuguese at age 16, when his airplane began its initial descent into Belo Horizonte, Brazil. He spent a year as a Rotary Exchange Student living with a host family. While there, Phil cemented the second of his four languages and his love of other cultures.
He lived in Ecuador for a year and two in Japan. But Phil always returns to Alaska, his birthplace. Phil lives in a funky ski town which sees travelers from all over throughout the year. When not in his cabin, Phil travels the world professionally.
Phil views the world from airplane windows, bus rooftops and, most often, atop a motorcycle. After Japan, he founded what would grow into an industry leader in the adventure tourism category, MotoQuest.
Phil’s self-professed claim to fame would be that he not only co-authored the award winning travel book The Adventurous Motorcyclist’s Guide to Alaska, but that he was also voted class clown in high school.
Phil believes that the best way to travel is on two wheels. And that language and food are integral to understanding other peoples and oneself.
